Búzios is famous for its beautiful beaches and for having been a favorite of Brigitte Bardot in the 1960s. Located on the northern coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, on the Costa do Sol, there is an unfair reputation that the city offers expensive attractions. However, Bamboo Búzios Hostel, with this post, comes to demystify this mistaken idea and prove that there are many wonderful tours in the city, all for free! And what’s more: most of them are. In addition, it is possible to get from various points to others on foot and, throughout the city, there are vans that pass by all the time, so there is no need to travel by car.
1. Porto da Barra
A beautiful, lounge-style place on the Manguinhos seafront, with a spectacular view. Perfect for relaxing and taking beautiful photos. There is also a perfect integration with nature, which, in addition to the sea, offers 14 thousand meters of green area. It is one of the best places in Búzios to watch the sunset, date, chat, reflect, or simply feel at peace.
Porto da Barra is where the Búzios fish market is located, as well as a gastronomic hub, with bars and restaurants and an art gallery. However, it is not necessary to eat in any of these places to enjoy the nature and well-being that the place offers.
2. Rua das Pedras
In the 1960s, Rua das Pedras was just a dirt path leading to the sea. The stones were added ten years later, allowing cars to pass through and people to walk around the area more easily. Today, it has become one of the main tourist attractions in Búzios, with countless restaurants (where you can also only eat if you decide to stay in one of them). Just stopping by is worth it, since, in addition to the decoration with the stones on the ground and the lighting of the place, which seems to transport the walker to a projected scene, there is a delightful breeze coming from the sea.
And more: This is where Bamboo Búzios Hostel is located, facing the sea!
3. Orla Bardot Boardwalk
For those who want to take a walk with a beautiful view as a backdrop, we recommend a stroll along the Calçadão da Orla Bardot. In addition to the landscape, you can take a photo with the statue of Brigitte Bardot, who fell in love with Búzios in the 1960s, making the city known to the world and popularizing the region.
Also located on Orla Bardot is the sculpture Os Três Pescadores, which, when seen from a distance, really gives the impression of there being people in the sea, as it is extremely realistic. When the tide is low, visitors can get closer and take photos with the “fishermen”. The men in the sculpture represent the former residents of the coast.
Completing the set of sculptures on Orla, there is also a statue of former President Juscelino Kubitschek, who was a regular visitor to the region.
From the shore, the sunset is impressive and the place is very busy, with shops and nightclubs, making it a very popular place and a must-see for anyone visiting Búzios.
4. Church of Sant’Ana
Walking along Orla Bardot, on the way to Praia dos Ossos, you will come to the Church of Sant’Ana, with simple and historic architecture, beautiful inside and out. Inside, there is an image of Mother Teresa of Caucutá. From there, you can also admire a beautiful image of the beach, with a wonderful view.
5. Bones Beach
There is no real attraction for swimming in the sea, as there are a large number of boats. However, in addition to being a great spot for boat trips to various beaches, Praia dos Ossos has streets around it that are full of art shops, studios and antique shops. It is a great place for those who want to stroll around, but also to get to know the local artistic expression. It is also easily accessible from Orla Bardot and the city center.
6. Mirante do Forno
7. Praia da Foca
A tiny beach that looks more like a projected lake, very beautiful, with several rock formations and ornamental vegetation, with the presence of cacti and a view that seems like a private beach, with little sand and an unmissable landscape, without any commerce. For this reason, when you arrive at Foca beach, what you find is nature that seems untouched. It is worth going on foot, enjoying the environment, relaxing in front of the stunning view.
8. Mirante de João Fernandes
João Fernandes Viewpoint, located in Búzios, Rio de Janeiro, is a tourist attraction that offers panoramic views of João Fernandes Beach and the surrounding area. It is a popular spot for taking photos and admiring the natural beauty of the area, including the bay, mountains and Ilha Branca.
9. Praia Azeda e Azedinha
There are two small beaches with crystal clear, calm waters, rocks and stunning greenery. On Azedinha beach, there is a rock with a hole in the middle, forming a delightful natural pool. Very popular, they attract a large number of tourists. You can get there by water taxi, but Bamboo Búzios Hostel recommends that those who don’t want to spend money and want to experience the landscape should take a walk from João Fernandes beach, following a small trail and going down a wooden staircase. The view is impressive and worth the walk, with lots of photos.
10. Geribá
This is the liveliest beach in the region. With a long stretch of land, cold water, waves, sports and lots of people, Geribá is a beautiful place and great for those looking for a buzz and a larger concentration of people, as well as not-so-calm waters. From there, however, it is possible to take a very quick walk to Ferradurinha beach, which is the opposite of the hustle and bustle, with very calm waters, where you can even practice diving and a “pool-like” sea, great for taking children.
See? In Búzios, there are tours and prices for all tastes and it is possible to enjoy the city on a budget and enjoy the tourist attractions without paying for entrance fees or guides. To help you achieve your goal of enjoying the incredible scenery, Bamboo Búzios Hostel is located on Rua das Pedras and offers walking access to several of these unmissable tours, as well as a private exit to Praia do Canto, in other words: simply facing the beach! And this is our extra tip: Praia do Canto is great for swimming, safe for children, is next to Rua das Pedras and offers the impressive view of the beaches of Búzios: the sensation of an infinite sea.
