With a ton of beach options and paradisiacal scenery, anyone who thinks that you have to spend a lot of money to enjoy Búzios is very wrong. It is also possible to enjoy the city without breaking the bank! So pack your bags well to make the most of the beaches and food without breaking the bank.
So let’s look at the options of what to do here:
Starting with Pedras Streets
I’ll assume you’ve never been to the city.
So, the first thing you should know is that Rua das Pedras is simply the most popular area in Búzios. And that’s exactly where our Hostel is located. So, when you stay here, you’ll be surrounded by many bars, restaurants and nightclubs, as well as a spectacular view of Praia do Canto from Bamboo’s patio.
Since it’s a predominantly touristy city, you’ll probably find some things that are a bit pricey in the neighborhood. That’s why Bamboo’s tips always aim to make things cheaper.
How about a walk along Orla Bardot?
Bamboo Búzios is located on Praia do Canto in the city center, so its location is strategic for several cool, free tours.
For example, if you follow the beach or Rua das Pedras, you have almost instant access to Orla Brigitte Bardot.
This promenade is marked by the statue of the French actress who put Búzios on the international tourist scene in the 1950s and 1960s after a visit that made her fall in love.
In the past, Búzios was just a simple fishing village. But, since the passionate visit of this young lady here (showing the statue), the city has never gone out of fashion.
Here you will be able to fulfill the main tourist cliché of the area: take a photo with the statue that is almost a parallel to Carlos Drummond de Andrade in Copacabana.
An icon of Búzios, Orla Bardot is one of the portraits of Búzios’ beauty, bringing together bars, restaurants, shops, inns, ice cream parlors and nightclubs. It embraces visitors with an extremely bucolic atmosphere, always with colors framed by fishing boats. A walk along the boardwalk, wooden decks, benches and gardens.
The walk is pleasant at any time of day, but at dusk it takes on the colors of the sunset and becomes even more enchanting.
Take the trail from Praia do Canto to Tartaruga
Leaving the Hostel via Praia do Canto in the opposite direction to Orla Bardot, you can follow a trail that crosses other very interesting beaches.
Love Beach
This is the first beach on the trail. Recommended for those looking for peace and quiet and exclusivity, it is one of the most hidden beaches in Búzios.
Because access is somewhat limited by the rock wall and native vegetation, it is almost deserted. It is a great destination for couples who are inspired by the romantic scene of the place. Hence its name.
Bamboo Tip: Access is easier when the tide is low.
The trail begins on the rocks at the end of Praia do Canto, to the left of the hostel exit. It requires some skill and non-slip footwear.
You will walk along the rocks that border the water until you reach the beach.
Virgin Beach
Following the trail, leaving Praia dos Amores, this beach is as peaceful and private as the previous one.
With a very small strip of sand and being more susceptible to the tides, Praia das Virgens does not have the infrastructure for conventional tourists. But it is perfect for the more adventurous who are up for a deeper contact with nature, with calm waters ideal for an exploratory dive to admire the marine life and the rocky coastlines.
Bamboo Tip: Access on foot is really challenging and can only be done during low tide, through some rock formations in the narrowest part of the trail leaving Praia dos Amores. Therefore, you need to be extra careful on the way.
Turtle Beach
Further along the trail, you will return to civilization when you reach Tartaruga Beach, formed by two stretches of sand separated by an almost architectural stone path, with a colorful and calm sea and a 1km strip of sand where sea turtles used to lay their eggs.
This is one of the most popular beaches in Búzios. However, unlike the others near the city center, it has no houses or hotels obstructing its landscape. Unlike the other beaches near the city center, it has no houses or hotels obstructing the landscape.
The kiosks there are almost disguised in the scenery framed by the green of the mountains.
Bamboo’s tip: for those who want to eat well and save money on their trip: QUIOSQUE DO CHICO.
You’ll have a chair and umbrella at no extra cost or minimum consumption to enjoy the beach. And you’ll be able to eat wonderful fish at a great price, in addition to other sensational options on the menu.
Go eat well and cheaply
Búzios has an excellent infrastructure to welcome visitors, and one of the most striking aspects is the quantity and quality of its restaurants.
For those who want to eat well, there are several delicious options:
Buzios Backyard
A little corner of our own home, this restaurant offers an intimate and family-friendly experience with a welcoming atmosphere and great home-cooked food with a varied menu.
The restaurant is located at Rua da Paz 12, 400m from Rua das Pedras.
Sanse Café
Quite reserved and cozy, Sanse has such a rich attention to detail in the presentation of its dishes that Eric Jacquin himself would be silent.
You will have a unique gastronomic experience, through a creative menu of meals, desserts and drinks without charging you exorbitant prices for it.
The café is located at Rua João Fernandes, store 4, near João Fernandes beach, 1.7 km from Bamboo on Rua das Pedras.
Big Dogs
Although the name may sound simplistic, don’t underestimate this Argentine food truck. Its 30 cm gourmet hot dogs would make any Subway franchisee cry.
What food truck do you know that makes hot dogs with shrimp and charges you only R$30.00?
The menu is very cultural and includes elements of Argentine cuisine. So enjoy the chimichurri and empanadas.
It’s simply beautiful. A find on Rua Manoel Turíbio de Farias, in the center of Búzios, near Bamboo.
Caverna
Practically the best restaurant in downtown Búzios.
With a very nice ambiance and rustic feel, it is just as good as the more gourmet restaurants.
Its cuisine blends well with Brazilian and South American cultures in general, and it also has vegetarian options for those who like it.
With good food and fair prices, the cost-benefit ratio is excellent. A great option for an uncomplicated meal.
Caverna is also very close to Bamboo. More precisely, on Rua Pr José Fernandes 6, 200m away.
Huna Bistrô & Beach Bar
Huna is our restaurant here at Bamboo. It offers a beachfront experience and a beach bar with your feet in the sand.
The menu has a Hawaiian feel, with appetizers and main courses, mostly prepared with seafood. There are also some sandwich options and special appetizers with beef and chicken.
But the bistro’s highlight is the seafood platter – shrimp, squid, mussels and octopus, all very succulent, accompanied by a portion of rustic potatoes – in addition to a vast drinks menu with a variety of flavors and styles.
All this at a super affordable price!
Take a dip!
You know that experience you had and every time you remember it you smile, wanting to go back in time? After you go diving in Búzios, you’ll definitely have another one to add to that list!
You can do snorkeling with shallower dives – ideal for beginners, called “Baptism Diving” which happens a lot at João Fernandes Beach.
There is also scuba diving in deeper waters with an oxygen cylinder and equipment.
The main points for this type of diving in Búzios are Ilha da Âncora, Ilhas Gravatás and Ilha Feia.
The tip here is to ask for recommendations of companies and instructors at the Bamboo Hostel reception.
