Búzios is not only famous for its beaches. The city is also an excellent gastronomic hub. The restaurants in Búzios offer everything from delicious and fresh seafood to dishes with extremely refined and elaborate ingredients. While the stars of the day are the sun and the sea, at dusk the focus of tourists changes completely. It’s time to try some of the best delicacies in the Lakes Region. Get ready to recharge your batteries at the tables of one of Búzios’ restaurants.
Búzios is also a paradise when it comes to good food, bringing together French, Italian, Japanese, Spanish restaurants… Each one offers typical flavors and delicacies for the most demanding and varied palates. The reason for this diversity is the large number of foreigners who came to spend a few days in the seaside resort, fell in love and stayed here.
From their origins, they brought the spices and secrets that enhance seafood dishes – fish are the mainstay of local cuisine, after all, Búzios began as a fishing village and is surrounded by beaches on all sides.
At dinner time, the traditional address for restaurants is downtown: Rua das Pedras and its continuation – Orla Bardot, a beautiful stretch that goes all the way to Praia dos Ossos, the birthplace of the town of Búzios.
During the day, the tip is to nibble at the kiosks and bars scattered along the beaches. Most offer portions of fresh shrimp and squid, as well as full meals, such as moquecas and lobsters. Among the beaches that offer the best infrastructure for dining are Praia da Tartaruga, Praia de Geribá and Praia João Fernandes, with several kiosks and restaurants on the seafront.
Leaving the center, an excellent alternative is Porto da Barra, a space attached to the fish market in Manguinhos. Set on a wooden deck between the beach and the mangrove swamp, bars, restaurants, decoration shops and studios are spread throughout this pleasant location – perfect for sunset or nighttime visits. It is an excellent alternative to escape the hustle and bustle of Rua das Pedras.
The charming Porto da Barra in Manguinhos also offers a variety of options, some facing the beach, for a delicious post-beach lunch. Among them is Bar dos Pescadores, famous for its shrimp pastries and moquecas, such as the one called namorado.
Almost next door to the port is Espaço Domme, a beach-style decoration complex that brings together restaurants serving Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine.
Also in Manguinhos, Shopping Aldeia da Praia is a great option for a snack, lunch or dinner. There are the pioneers Grão Culinária Vegetariana Natural, with quiches, crepiocas, teas, juices, whole-grain snacks and delicious light meals; and the Clube da Esfiha, with a lean and tasty menu. And there is also Forneria Picardia, with pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven and the Japanese Shido Sushi Bar, as well as Espetinho Gourmet and Armazém do Pastel.
